04_Studio Somewhere at Tramway
Conceived by the team behind Take Me Somewhere – a boundary-pushing contemporary arts festival – Studio Somewhere is creating a fertile space for some radical new work. Based at Tramway, it will launch its first residency programme in spring 2022, enabling performance makers to innovate and experiment, testing deeply relevant and pertinent new ideas.
05_South Seeds Croft
Glasgow’s expansive green spaces are famous, but community gardens offer a special kind of sanctuary. This one is found on an ex-tennis court, beside the larger Queen’s Park and it’s particularly well sheltered by surrounding trees – a super place to escape the city’s hustle and get mindful on a regular basis as you watch the garden grow.
06_The Western Baths
With one of only three swimming pools in the UK to feature usable travelling rings and a trapeze, these baths are as much a place of antiquity, as they are a venue for keeping fit. The Western dates back to 1876 and includes an authentically designed Turkish and Russian bathing suite.
An innovative indie Scottish restaurant that creates adventurous sustainable tasting menus. At The Gannet, every ingredient has a story – even down to the butter, which is made via traditional methods by a Kelso-based mother-daughter team (and their herd of Jersey Cows).
A note: Each month, we update our site as part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our digital estate. The global emissions from the digital industry are on a par with those from the aviation industry, at almost 2% of total global emissions. What’s worse, this is increasing year on year. In an effort to lessen our impact, each month we delete previous features and update our site with new content. Throughout the month, our current features are available to download or save for free to all boom saloon members, allowing you the chance to hold onto your most treasured stories and collections – support our work and become a member by clicking below.
