It can be no surprise that we are collectively facing a climate crisis of unprecedented magnitude. Earth is a system within which everything is connected, meaning climate change not only increases temperatures but also directly affects, amongst others, intense droughts, water scarcity, severe fires, rising sea levels, flooding, melting polar ice, catastrophic storms and declining biodiversity. Within this landscape, nurturing a deeper understanding of our habitat and the ways in which we can protect and care for it become vital to a sustainable future.
By telling stories through sound and art, creative x executive consultant, composer, artist, writer, curator, and coach Lola Villa inspires us to better connect with nature – reminding us of what we have to fight for and inciting positive action as opposed to scaremongering or solely negatively reporting. The founder of Sato San, a creative mentoring studio for creative liberation inspired by nature, she recently held a seminar with Nature as the muse.
The event provided an opportunity to tap into the speed of Nature and slow down by learning how to align with this energy on a daily basis, harnessing creative seasonality and finding fulfilment and meaning.
The below playlist, as featured during this event, is a Shirin-yoku-inspired mix of field recordings, jazz, music that plays with nature and nature that becomes music; plug in and tune out whilst tapping in.

A note: We regularly update our site as part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our digital estate. The global emissions from the digital industry are on a par with those from the aviation industry, at almost 2% of total global emissions. What’s worse, this is increasing year on year. In an effort to lessen our impact, we regularly compress and archive previous features as we update our site with new content – something we consider best practice and hope to see more of across the industry.
