Laura Beltrán Villamizar's Love in the Time of Cholera
“Spanning a broad spectrum of artists, genres and time periods, the selection reflects Villamizar’s appreciation of serendipity and highlights the power of music to soothe us through troubling times”
words – laura beltrán villamizar
location – mexico city, mexico
A long term visual storyteller, Laura Beltrán Villamizar’s career to date has seen her dedicate herself to the promotion and development of visual journalists from under-represented regions and communities, lead educational programmes in Latin America and shape a number of visual identities. Having previously written for us on understanding photography’s roots as a colonial practice, the music lover joins us again to share a playlist of tracks for a time of crisis. Spanning a broad spectrum of artists, genres and time periods, the selection reflects Villamizar’s appreciation of serendipity and highlights the power of music to soothe us through troubling times.

A note: Each month, we update our site as part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our digital estate. The global emissions from the digital industry are on a par with those from the aviation industry, at almost 2% of total global emissions. What’s worse, this is increasing year on year. In an effort to lessen our impact, each month we compress and archive previous features and update our site with new content. Throughout the month, our current features are available to all to enjoy; our full digital archive is accessible to boom saloon members, in thanks for their support to use creativity to inspire and empower those facing challenges.
